Engr. Garcia had the privilege of working under Professor Kwang Sup Eom in the Electrochemical Energy Systems Laboratory (EESL) of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, focusing his research on lithium metal batteries (LMBs). On the other hand, Engr. Palaganas was mentored by Professor Jaeyoung Lee in the Electrochemical Reaction and Technology Laboratory (ERTL) of the School of Earth Science and Environmental Engineering. Her research is focused on enhancing the electrochemical performance of Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) batteries by incorporating electrocatalysts.

Both researchers are set to present their research findings through a poster presentation at the end of the program (August 17, 2023). The experience gained during this program is expected to equip them with essential skills and knowledge that will further contribute to their ongoing battery research projects within Project NextGen.
The program also included additional learning opportunities, such as Korean language classes and special lectures, enriching their overall experience and fostering a collaborative research environment.
