The BS Chemical Engineering students presented their theses in the Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Plant Design and Research Colloquium last May and 25, 2018 at Melchor Hall in UP Diliman. Among the presenters were the undergraduate advisees of Dr. Joey D. Ocon in the Laboratory of Electrochemical Engineering (LEE). The studies presented were:
“Techno-Economic Analysis of Installing PV/Battery/Diesel Microgrids in Samar” by Juan Ramon R. Danganan, Angelica Marie F. Cabanas, and Ma. Laia L. Valencia;
“Techno-Economic Analysis of Grid-tied Solar PV Hybrid System in the Department of Chemical Engineering Buildings” by Pauline Joyce B. Alfonso, Christian C. Casenares, and Dana Allison C. Reyes;
“The Preparation of a Monolith Substrate for a Low-Cost Three Way Non-PGM Catalytic Converter for Jeepney PUV’s” by Gian Carlo C. Aguila, Wilfred Cedric R. Pantangco, Gabriel C. Ranola with Engr. Michael Sean P. Deang as supervisor;
“Copper Oxide-Reduced Graphene Oxide (CuO-rGO) Nanocomposite-Based Carbon Paste Electrode for Electrochemical Non-Enzymatic Detection of Urea” by Ronald Allan D.C. Flores, Maria Angelica T. Manaloto, and Jessica Ann D. Vilvestre; and
“Density Functional Theory-based Investigation of Intermediate Adsorption on Nickel Selenide for Oxygen Reduction and Water Oxidation Reactions” by Beatriz Andrea C. Tan with Ace Christian F. Serraon and Dr. Allan Abraham B. Padama as supervisors.
The colloquium is annually organized by the UP Diliman Department of Chemical Engineering which serves as the final requirement for ChE 144 (Chemical Engineering Research II).
