
Project NextGen of ABC attends IMLB 2024 in Hong Kong

AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong — Project NextGen of the Advanced Batteries Center made a significant mark at the 22nd International Meeting on Lithium Batteries (IMLB 2024) held from June 16 to June 21, 2024. This premier international conference drew 1,490 attendees from around the globe, with Project NextGen staff proudly representing the Philippines as the sole delegates from the country.
IMLB 2024, recognized as the leading global conference on lithium battery science and technology, convened experts, researchers, and industry leaders from various sectors including transportation, commercial applications, aerospace, biomedical sciences, and more. The conference served as a crucial platform for discussing recent advancements in lithium battery technology, focusing on both fundamental research and applied innovations that enhance energy storage and conversion capabilities. Key topics included the development of advanced lithium battery materials, as well as insights into the electrochemical processes governing battery performance.
Among the distinguished plenary and keynote speakers who graced the event was Dr. Akira Yoshino, Honorary Fellow of Asahi Kasei – Japan and 2019 Nobel Prize Laureate for pioneering the development of lithium-ion batteries, illuminated in his discussion the futuristic society utilizing the Artificial Intelligence Enhanced Vehicles (AIEVs).
Another major highlight of IMLB 2024 was its emphasis on beyond lithium-ion technologies, reflecting the industry's shift towards exploring new materials and approaches to meet future energy demands sustainably. The agenda encompassed a broad spectrum of themes central to lithium battery science and technology, fostering collaborative exchanges among global experts.
Project NextGen's participation underscored the Philippines' growing presence in the international arena of battery research, contributing insights and perspectives from their innovative initiatives through poster presentation. As the only representatives from their country, Project NextGen's engagement at IMLB 2024 highlighted their commitment to advancing technological frontiers and exploring new opportunities in energy storage solutions.
The success of IMLB 2024 in Hong Kong reaffirmed its role as a vital forum for shaping the future of lithium battery technologies, setting the stage for continued breakthroughs in energy innovation worldwide.
