To further expand the network and seek potential collaborations for the UP Laboratory of Electrochemical Engineering (LEE), Dr. Joey Ocon had an extensive set visits among the premier research institutions and initiatives in Germany last May 2024.

For most of the time in his three-weeks long trip, he served as a guest researcher at the Reiner Lemoine Institut gGmbH - Berlin, one of the leading research institutes focusing on off-grid electrification, energy transition, and green mobility. He along with his advisee, Engr. Arizeo Salac, who is also staying at the same institute for a six month long internship focusing on collaborative research work on off-grid island electrification.

The other research institutions that Dr. Ocon was able to visit were the Wuppertal Institute in Berlin, which focuses on sustainability and climate policy; the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative in Potsdam, dedicated to advancing urban electric transportation; the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Stuttgart, which conducts cutting-edge research in aeronautics, space, energy, and transportation; and the Technische Universität Berlin, a leading technical university renowned for its engineering and technological research advancements.

These professional visits were instrumental in fostering collaborations, exchanging knowledge, and exploring innovative solutions across various fields, including energy, mobility, and sustainability.
